Daniel James has worked in the beverage and hospitality industry for over 15 years and has been a lover of cider for more than 20. He is originally from Colorado, and after spending a few years living in Oregon and Pennsylvania, his family has settled in the Southern Tier of New York near the Finger Lakes. He is currently the Club and Wholesale Manager for South Hill Cider.

He became a Certified Pommelier™ in 2024 because he believes cider exists in the perfect sweet spot between beer and grape wine. He holds that between the incredible genetic potential of apples and boundless human creativity, there is an apple-based drink, alcoholic or not, for everyone. He strives to help others discover the right version for them to enjoy! He is also a passionate supporter of a “beyond organic” approach to agriculture and all aspects of cider production.
