Certified Pommelier™ Sensory Prep Workshop

Prepare your palate with confidence before taking the Certified Pommelier™ sensory examination.

This immersive, instructor-led workshop is designed specifically for Certified Cider Guides™ preparing for the sensory portion of the Certified Pommelier™ exam. Over three intensive hours, you'll refine your tasting technique, strengthen your sensory vocabulary, and practice evaluating cider using the same analytical framework expected during the examination.

Through guided tastings and interactive exercises, you'll learn to identify key aroma, flavor, and structural characteristics while improving your ability to communicate your experiences with accuracy and confidence. You'll also explore common cider styles and production methods through a sensory lens, helping connect theory to what is in the glass.

During the workshop, participants will:

Practice systematic sensory evaluation using the Certified Pommelier™ tasting framework.
Build confidence in identifying acidity, tannin, sweetness, body, carbonation, and balance.
Develop aroma and flavor recognition using guided sensory exercises.
Compare multiple cider styles to understand how production choices influence sensory outcomes.
Strengthen descriptive language and tasting precision.
Learn strategies for preparing for the blind tasting portion of the Certified Pommelier™ examination.
Participate in practice tasting scenarios with instructor feedback and discussion.

Whether you're taking the exam immediately following the workshop or planning to sit for the certification in the future, this session provides valuable hands-on experience to elevate your tasting skills and deepen your understanding of cider.

Prerequisite: Certified Cider Guide certification is recommended. This workshop is intended for individuals preparing for the Certified Pommelier™ certification and is recommended, but not required, before sitting for the examination.
